Dry Food Distribution During Cyclone Fani
Dry food was distributed to affected families and children during the Cyclone Fani relief response.
Cyclone Fani was an extremely severe cyclonic storm that made landfall on the east coast near Puri on 3 May 2019. It brought winds of around 175 km/h, heavy rain and widespread damage to homes, trees and power lines. About 1.2 million people were moved to shelters before landfall, and thousands of families lost their homes, belongings and livelihoods in the days that followed.
In the aftermath, Peace Foundation volunteers carried out a relief response in the affected communities. Dry food packets, biscuits and rice were handed out to children, women and families who had been hit hardest, and the team stayed with the community as relief reached each household.
This is a documented activity of Peace Foundation, presented from the organisation’s photograph records.
